Living in Ayer's Cliff

Ayer's Cliff is located at the southern end of Lake Massawippi, near the mouth of the Tomifobia River. The area was settled beginning in 1797, and the village took the name Ayer's Cliff in 1904, after having been known as Ayer's Flat. In the early 20th century, wealthy Americans had summer estates built here. The village has kept a significant English-speaking community and today attracts families, retirees and vacationers.

« An agricultural fair that has existed since 1845 says a lot about how attached people here are to their village and their corner of the country. »
