Rosemère developed from the seigneury of Mille-Îles; its name, given around 1880 by a Canadian Pacific employee, combines wild roses and "mere," an old English word for lake. A former resort area on the banks of the rivière des Mille Îles, it became after the Second World War a residential suburb known for its dense tree cover. The city has kept its bilingual status, confirmed by a consultation in 1992. Families, professionals and retirees come here for large wooded lots, close to the shops of Place Rosemère.

Heritage site and cultural centre
Built around 1796 on chemin de la Grande-Côte, this stone house with its barn-stable has been a heritage site designated by the City since 1992. Today it serves as a cultural centre and hosts, among other things, exhibitions by Rosemère artists.
