Living in Le Sud-Ouest
The Sud-Ouest takes in Saint-Henri, Little Burgundy, Griffintown, Pointe-Saint-Charles, Ville-Émard and Côte-Saint-Paul. The area industrialized quickly after the Lachine Canal opened in 1825 and remained a working-class stronghold until the canal closed to commercial shipping. The canal's reopening to recreational boating in 2002 set off a marked transformation, with many residential projects. Long-time residents, young professionals and families live side by side.
