I like Saint-Amable for its parc Le Rocher, a large wooded area right in town that you can enjoy in every season.

Living in Saint-Amable

Saint-Amable was established as a parish in 1913 from three neighbouring parishes and is named after Amable de Riom, a popular saint in New France. Located between the St. Lawrence and the Richelieu, it was long known for growing potatoes, an activity halted in 2006 by the discovery of the golden nematode and then gradually resumed with resistant varieties. Today the town combines residential areas and farmland. It attracts many families who work elsewhere on the South Shore.

Why Saint-Amable

Outdoors

Parc Le Rocher offers the Le Boisé and La Boucle trails, accessible in summer and winter alike.

Agriculture

The town lies in a fertile area between the St. Lawrence and the Richelieu, historically associated with potatoes.

My favourite spot in Saint-Amable

Parc Le Rocher

Nature park

Built on a former Ministère des Transports sand pit acquired by the Town in 1982, the park offers year-round walking trails, cross-country skiing, a lit skating rink and a sliding hill. Free equipment lending at the chalet makes family outings easy.
