Real estate broker inBlainville

What always surprises me about Blainville is that people now walk through woodlands where thousands once assembled munitions during the Second World War.

Living in Blainville

Blainville is named after Jean-Baptiste Céloron de Blainville, third seigneur of the seigneury it came from, and separated from Sainte-Thérèse-de-Blainville in 1968. Today it is the most populous city in the Thérèse-De Blainville RCM, at the crossroads of Highways 15 and 640. A large part of its territory occupies the former Plan Bouchard site, a federal munitions complex from the Second World War that has since become a network of woodlands and residential neighbourhoods. Families, commuters and first-time buyers live alongside newer areas such as Chambéry and the Quartier de la Gare.

Why Blainville

What draws people here

Transportation

The Blainville station (exo Line 12 Saint-Jérôme) and Highway 15 link the city directly to Laval and Montréal.

Nature

Five landscaped woodlands and circuits, including the Plan Bouchard woodland, the lacs Fauvel woodland around a former quarry and the Fontainebleau ravines, are free to access.

Development

The Chambéry neighbourhood, covering some 250 hectares with a protected ecological corridor, and the transit-oriented Quartier de la Gare shape residential growth.

Employment

Two industrial parks and several commercial hubs, including the one at exit 28 of Highway 15, are home to hundreds of businesses.

My favourite spot in Blainville

Boisé du Plan Bouchard

Woodland and historic site

This woodland of about forty hectares is crossed by a circuit of roughly 3 km, with walkways, signage and a micro-museum telling the story of the Plan Bouchard munitions plant. You can still come across remnants of Second World War bunkers, right in nature, free of charge, all year round.

« I love that Blainville has preserved and showcased the remains of the Plan Bouchard rather than erasing them: it gives real historical depth to a city often seen as a recent suburb. »
