Saint-Sulpice stretches along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, between Repentigny and Lavaltrie, along Route 138, the old chemin du Roy. Granted in 1640, the seigneury passed to the Sulpicians in 1647, who gave it its name; the first settlers cleared the land there as early as 1680. Its territory also includes islands in the river, among them Île Ronde and Île Bouchard. It is a small municipality sought after by families and retirees who want the proximity of Highway 40 without giving up the calm of the riverside.

Religious heritage
Built in 1830-1831 on the edge of the river, then transformed in 1873 by Victor Bourgeau and Étienne-Alcibiade Leprohon, it has been designated a heritage building since 1959. Together with the presbytery, the cemetery and its roadside cross, it forms a parish complex that tells three centuries of history on the banks of the St. Lawrence.
