Living in Saint-Césaire
Crossed from south to north by the Yamaska River, Saint-Césaire was first called Burtonville before the parish was founded in 1833. In the 19th century, its Saturday farmers' market drew merchants from as far away as Montréal. The young Alfred Bessette, the future Brother André, lived here from 1854 to 1860, and the band Harmonium recorded the album L'Heptade here in 1976. Today, the town describes itself as an industrial, agricultural and artisanal centre surrounded by fertile land.
