Val-des-Sources, formerly Asbestos, changed its name in 2020 and is the seat of the Les Sources RCM. The town grew up around the Jeffrey Mine, for a long time one of the largest asbestos mines in the world, which closed in 2012. It also left its mark on Quebec history with the 1949 asbestos strike, which lasted more than eight months. Today you will find families, retirees and workers from the region, as well as the Trois-Lacs vacation area.
