Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle occupies the southeast of Les Jardins-de-Napierville, on the New York State border, and covers more than 112 km². Its name honours Bernard-Claude Panet, the 12th Archbishop of Québec, and recalls the former seigneury of Lacolle; the municipality was incorporated in 1855. The border crossing, at the end of Autoroute 15, is one of the busiest between Québec and the United States. The Rivière Lacolle crosses a mostly agricultural territory that is home to farmers, families and outdoor enthusiasts.
