Living in Morin-Heights
Founded around 1850 by English-speaking settlers of Irish origin, later joined by French-speaking families, Morin-Heights is named after Augustin-Norbert Morin, who owned a farm and mills there. The village has kept from its English-speaking roots even its name and a small-community atmosphere, between the rivière Simon and lakes such as Écho, Bouchette and Cook. Its ski resort and its former recording studio, Le Studio, founded in 1974 and frequented by internationally renowned artists, made its name known well beyond the Laurentians. You will meet permanent residents, remote workers, families and second-home owners.

Built on a former CN railway line, this trail of about 58 km links Morin-Heights to Amherst and can be travelled by bike and on foot in summer, and on cross-country skis in its southern portion in winter. The start in the heart of the village makes it a daily outing for many residents.
