Living in Saint-Lin–Laurentides

Saint-Lin–Laurentides was born in 2000 from the merger of the municipality of Saint-Lin and the Ville des Laurentides. Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the first French Canadian to become Prime Minister of Canada, was born here, and the house associated with his family is now a national historic site. The rivière de l'Achigan crosses the territory, about 70% of which is agricultural zone or natural environment. The city now exceeds 25,000 residents after strong growth over the past decade.

Why Saint-Lin–Laurentides

What draws people here

Transportation

Three provincial routes (335, 337 and 158) link the city to Montréal's northern suburbs, the Laurentians and the rest of Lanaudière.

History

The Sir Wilfrid Laurier National Historic Site and the Saint-Lin church, built in 1887, bear witness to the village's past.

Outdoors

A 58-hectare recreational park, woodlots and trails allow hiking, biking and snowshoeing without leaving the city.

My favourite spot in Saint-Lin–Laurentides

Sir Wilfrid Laurier National Historic Site

Historic site

This typical Quebec house from the time of Laurier's youth presents a collection of antique objects and furniture that illustrate life in earlier days. The exterior can be visited freely all year, and Parks Canada offers guided tours there on weekends during the summer.

« I like that a fast-growing city keeps such a direct link with the country's history: Laurier's house, right in the heart of Saint-Lin, recalls where this community comes from. »
