I see Saint-Jérôme as the true capital of the Laurentians: a complete city, with a train, a cégep and a hospital, at the gateway to the mountains.

Living in Saint-Jérôme

Nicknamed "the capital of the Laurentians" or "the queen of the North," Saint-Jérôme grew up along the rivière du Nord. Curé Antoine Labelle, who served as parish priest there from 1868, secured the arrival of the railway in 1876 to open up settlement of the North. The present city was born on January 1, 2002, from the merger of Saint-Jérôme, Bellefeuille, Lafontaine and Saint-Antoine. It attracts families and commuters as well as students and healthcare workers.

My favourite spot in Saint-Jérôme

Musée d'art contemporain des Laurentides (MAC LAU)

Museum

Located at 101, place du Curé-Labelle, right downtown, the museum presents contemporary art exhibitions in a setting that blends built heritage and current creation. The Maison de la culture Claude-Henri-Grignon, which houses it, also devotes a space to the author of Un homme et son péché.

« I love that in Saint-Jérôme you can step off the train, visit the MAC LAU and hop on your bike on the P'tit Train du Nord in the same day: it is rare for a city to be so well connected. »
