Real estate broker inChambly

To me, Chambly is the place where the history of the Richelieu is part of everyday life, between the fort, the canal and the basin.

Living in Chambly

Chambly grew up around the Chambly Basin, where the Richelieu rapids forced travellers and soldiers to stop. The stone fort built between 1709 and 1711 and the canal completed in 1843 still bear witness to this strategic role. The city is also the birthplace of the Unibroue brewery, whose Blanche de Chambly bears its name. You'll find families who have been here for generations as well as young households drawn by the newer neighbourhoods.

Chambly Canal

The bike path, about 20 km long, follows the historic canal and its locks all the way to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

The Festival Bières et Saveurs has brought the fort grounds to life every Labour Day weekend since 2002.

The City is developing parc-nature Fonrouge, a 47-hectare space dedicated to protecting biodiversity.

My favourite spot in Chambly

Fort Chambly National Historic Site

Historic site

This Vauban-style stone fort, built in the early 18th century on the edge of the rapids, houses an interpretation centre run by Parks Canada. Its grounds along the basin are just as good for a visit as for a simple family stroll.

« I never tire of the view of the basin from around the fort, especially at the end of the day. It's a feature of Chambly that few South Shore cities can offer. »
