Living in Westmount
Westmount spreads across the southwest slope of Mount Royal, which explains its name, adopted around 1895. A city enclaved within Montréal, it was merged in 2002 and then re-established in 2006. As early as 1916, it was the first in Canada to set up a local architecture and planning committee, which preserved its built environment. You'll find established families in Upper Westmount as well as professionals who want to walk to downtown.

Park and heritage library
Opened in 1899, the library was the first free public library in Québec, and the surrounding park is home to a 1927 conservatory and Victoria Hall. Together they form a place for strolling where period architecture and green spaces complement each other.
