Fort Senneville was built here in 1671, and its ruins remain on private land. The village's historic core was designated a national historic site of Canada in 2002, because of its country houses built by wealthy Montrealers. A small bilingual municipality at the western tip of the island, Senneville preserves large estates, woodlands and farmland. It attracts residents who want nature and space without leaving the island.

This farm estate, established between 1886 and 1908 by Senator Louis-Joseph Forget, preserves farm buildings designed by the Maxwell brothers and two stone houses from the early 19th century. It is now part of the Grand parc de l'Ouest, where land is being returned to cultivation.
