Living in Kirkland
Incorporated in 1961, Kirkland is named after Charles-Aimé Kirkland, a former provincial member of the legislature. It is first and foremost a residential community, made up mostly of single-family homes, with a few apartment buildings, row houses and condos. Its industrial park hosts companies in the pharmaceutical, aerospace and electronics sectors. Since 2026, a REM station connects the town to downtown.

Outdoors
Fully paved, this 5 km path crosses Kirkland from east to west north of Autoroute 40, partly through wooded areas. It connects to the Dollard-Des Ormeaux cycling network and, from there, to West Island paths.
