Living in Châteauguay

Châteauguay lies at the confluence of the Rivière Châteauguay and Lac Saint-Louis. Its name is linked to the Battle of the Châteauguay in 1813, when Charles de Salaberry's troops pushed back an American army headed for Montréal. The largest city in the Roussillon RCM, it includes the former Châteauguay-Heights and Châteauguay-Centre areas, annexed in 1968 and 1975. Families, retirees and nature lovers find full services, a hospital and access to the water.

My favourite spot in Châteauguay

Île Saint-Bernard and the Marguerite-D'Youville wildlife refuge

Nature and heritage

The 213-hectare refuge offers about eight kilometres of trails through marshes, swamps and forests, where more than 240 bird species have been observed. On the mound, you'll discover the Manoir D'Youville, a mill dating from 1686 and an organic orchard.
