Living in Orford
The Township of Orford was proclaimed in 1801 and its municipality created in 1855; its development was first driven by Loyalist settlers. Nearly half of its territory has been set aside for Mont-Orford National Park, created in 1938, with Lake Stukely and Lake Fraser. The village of Cherry River, north of Magog, was the first development hub. Today, Orford attracts families, retirees and cottage owners who want to live at the foot of the mountain.
