Real estate broker inMont-Laurier

Mont-Laurier is not a resort town like the others: it is the capital of the Hautes-Laurentides, and I approach it as a true regional market, with its jobs and services.

Living in Mont-Laurier

Established on the banks of the rivière du Lièvre, at the place called Rapide-de-l'Orignal, the village became Mont-Laurier in 1909 in honour of Prime Minister Wilfrid Laurier, then a city in 1950. In 2003, the city was merged with the neighbouring municipality of Des Ruisseaux, giving it a vast territory that also includes areas such as Saint-Jean-sur-le-Lac and Val-Limoges. A crossroads between the Laurentians, the Outaouais and Abitibi, the city lives off forestry, road transport, agriculture, tourism and public services. You will find families, healthcare, education and industry workers, and retirees who enjoy the lakes and forest.

Why Mont-Laurier

What draws people here

Transportation

The city sits at the junction of Routes 117 and 309 and has a regional airport a few kilometres from downtown.

Health and education

The Mont-Laurier hospital, being modernized, and the Centre collégial de Mont-Laurier, attached to the Cégep de Saint-Jérôme, serve the whole region.

Rivière du Lièvre

The Boisé des rapides, near downtown, offers a promenade and trails along the rivière du Lièvre.

My favourite spot in Mont-Laurier

Gare de Mont-Laurier et parc linéaire Le P'tit Train du Nord

Railway heritage

Built in 1909, the heritage station marks the northern end of the P'tit Train du Nord, the linear park of about 200 km built on the former railway line from Saint-Jérôme. You can set out by bike in summer or on cross-country skis in winter, through the forest of the Hautes-Laurentides.

« I love the idea that a bike path links Saint-Jérôme to the Mont-Laurier station: it is a reminder that this city sits at the end of an axis that shaped all of the Laurentians. »
