Saint-Patrice-de-Sherrington, which everyone calls Sherrington, was settled in the early 19th century by many Irish immigrants, hence the name of its parish, established in 1848. Draining vast tracts of land turned its organic soils, known as black soil, into a hub of market gardening and greenhouse production. The village lines rue Saint-Patrice (Route 219), home to the 1857 church. Many residents work in agriculture, alongside families looking for a rural setting.
