Settling in L'Assomption

Is L'Assomption right for you?

L'Assomption suits those who want a city on a human scale, with services and a cégep, while staying a reasonable distance from Montréal. Along the L'Assomption River, check whether the property is in a flood zone and the shoreline rules. For a heritage home, find out about any renovation restrictions. In rural areas, have the well water tested and the septic system inspected, and check the agricultural zoning.

Vieux Palais de L'Assomption

Heritage building and performance hall

Built in several phases starting in 1811 and designated in 1973, it is said to be the oldest county courthouse in Quebec. Today it houses a small performance hall devoted to comedy, music and emerging culture.

« I find it interesting that a building from 1811 still serves as a performance venue: it is typical of downtown L'Assomption, where heritage is part of everyday life. »
